Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion...she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket--a gifted inventor--steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.
When I picked this book I was in the mood for a feel good romantic story. Stephanie Perkins knows how to write a fun heart-warming contemporary novel. This is the companion book for Anna and the French Kiss.

Lola Nolan is a quirky fashion crazy girl, her outfits were always over the top, with wigs and all. I liked that we get to see how she finds the balance to all the craziness in her life, I loved that her parents, Andy and Nathan were involved throughout the book and not just in the background, they were present and made the difference in many situations.

Lola has a happy life, a rocker boyfriend (Max) and a great best friend (Lindsey), but all of a sudden the boy next door returns and all the memories from their childhood hit full force, every now and then she remembered him but now he is in her life again and Lola has to confront their past.

Cricket is a great character he is sweet, nerdy and kind. He has his own family issues and I wished we had more time to know his twin sister Calliope. The relationship between Lola and Cricket is full of small and charming moments, everything about them was so eccentric but it worked for the story.

I was expecting to read this novel and be like “ok I enjoyed it” but at the end I loved it, all in all was a refreshing story with some characters out of the ordinary some cliché but was just what I needed.

There are several things I loved about this book: The setting, the childhood memories, the romance, the awkward situations Lola constantly manage to get into, get to read a little about Anna and Etienne relationship. Overall I recommend this book to people who enjoyed Anna and the French Kiss or is looking for a light and fun dose of romance.
